The first wave of Catholic Health System workers begins moving on Monday into the new, $50 million headquarters building on the edge of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
About 75 employees in human resources, facilities planning and management, marketing, public relations and creative services will move into their new offices at 144 Genesee St., at the foot of the Kensington Expressway, from their current locations in the Apple Tree Business Park, in Cheektowaga, and the Nazareth Campus, near Kleinhans Music Hall.
The employees must finish packing up their work areas by Friday. Movers will pick up the items and deliver them to the new site, and information-technology workers will connect their computers and phones, over the weekend.
The employees are among more than 650 now scattered at seven local sites who will move into the new building over the next nine weeks. The 139,000-square-foot, six-story building, constructed by Uniland Development Co., also will host training for Catholic Health employees and community partners.
The system broke ground on the building, which has an attached parking ramp, in November 2012. Catholic Health expects to save $1 million annually on operational costs by consolidating employees at the new site.
