A popular Polish bakery will open its third location in Kenmore.
Chrusciki Bakery, a Buffalo favorite and staple at the Broadway Market, will open Friday at 2872 Delaware Ave.
The bakery is noted for its “angel wings,” a crispy, fried pastry cookie sprinkled with powdered sugar and often referred to as Chrusciki. Chrusciki is a variation on the Polish word for “dry branches broken off trees,” which the angel wings resemble.
The bakery will specialize in fresh, traditional European baked goods. It will also sell other homemade baked goods, such as wedding cakes, cookies, pastries and bread, as well as homemade pierogi.
The store will also carry products from other local companies, such as cherry juice from Singer Farms, Lake Effect Ice Cream, Niagara Popcorn and Adam’s Apples caramel apples.
The first Chrusciki Bakery opened at the Broadway Market in 1987, three years after founders Teddy and Hania Robieniek emigrated to the United States from Poland. Daughter Ania Gurnari is now president.
In 2011, Chrusciki opened a second location on West Drullard Avenue in Lancaster.
