An electronics recycling operation will open in Albion, creating 30 jobs and adding another Canada-based business to Orleans County.
BoMET Holding, based in Cambridge, Ont., is a non-ferrous scrap metal recycling company, but is diversifying into electronics with its BoMET Recovery business. The company paid $176,000 for a 60,000 square foot property at 152 McKinstry St., which will be the company’s first U.S. location. It is receiving a property tax abatement package and a loan package for the facility’s manufacturing equipment.
BoMET is the fifth Canadian manufacturer to locate in Orleans County; the other four are Brunner International, Hinsperger Poly Industries, Associated Brands and Freeze-Dry Foods Inc., according to the Orleans County Economic Development Agency. An unidentified sixth Canadian company is preparing to locate in the county, the agency said.
