A Williamsville equipment financing company has moved into new offices in the Electric Tower in downtown Buffalo, where it has pledged to create 71 new jobs during the next five years.
Blue Bridge Financial, which had 12 employees at its office at 5500 Main St., moved at the beginning of this month into 5,500 square feet of space in the Electric Tower. Local and state officials, including Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy, on Thursday attended a grand opening of the new headquarters.
The company received a state incentive package that could include as much as $586,173 in tax credits from the Excelsior Jobs Program and, in exchange, promised to hire the additional workers. Blue Bridge CEO Mark DeBacker said the company already has hired eight new employees, bringing the number working in the Electric Tower office to 20.
Blue Bridge had considered expanding in California and Florida, where the company has an office in Palm Harbor, but chose Buffalo because of the quality of the local workforce, which includes a large number of people with financial services experience, as well as the state incentive package.
