Hodgson Russ named Ryan K. Cummings, Ryan L. Everhart, Stephen W.Kelkenberg, and William A. Lundquist partners at its Buffalo law office. Cummings started at the firm in September 2002 upon receiving his JD from the University of Iowa College of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University. Everhart, a graduate of the University at Buffalo and UB School of Law, joined the firm in May 2003. He previously served as in-house counsel at Heritage Centers. Kelkenberg, a graduate of Canisius College and UB School of Law, joined the firm in September 2002. Lundquist started with the firm in June 2005. Previously he was general counsel at Birdair Inc. for eight years after serving in private practice for 18 years, representing contractors, owners, and specialty subcontractors. A graduate of Alfred State College and Fredonia State College, he received his law degree from the UB School of Law.

Drescher&Malecki, a certified public accounting firm in Cheektowaga, promoted Matthew J. Montalbo to manager and Jessica Colby and John Costilow to senior auditors. Montalbo, a CPA, is a graduate of Geneseo State College. He has been with the firm for six years. Colby, a University at Buffalo graduate, has more than three years experience. She has passed all four parts of the Uniform Certified Public Accountant exam and is a CPA licensure candidate. Costilow, also a UB graduate and CPA, has more than three years in public accounting. Also, the firm promoted Juliette Gauthier and Victoria Zurawski to in-charge auditors.

The Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute named Dr. George Phillips, professor of Biochemistry and Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin, to its Scientific Advisory Council. The Scientific Advisory Council was established to obtain outside advice and guidance from respected scientists with various areas of expertise from across the world.

The Utica law firm of Getnick Livingston Atkinson and Priore named Patrick G. Radel a partner. Radel received his undergraduate degree from the University at Buffalo and his law degree at the UB School of Law. He previously served as confidential law clerk to the Honorable William M. Skretny, U. S. District judge.

Read to Succeed Buffalo, an organization dedicated to improving literacy in Buffalo, named the Judge Betty Calvo-Torres chairwoman of the board of directors for 2010. Calvo- Torres, a Buffalo City Court judge, has served on the Read to Succeed board as vice chairwoman. Other officers: Vice chairman, Vincent Clark, director of Community Relations for the University at Buffalo; treasurer, Joseph J. Castiglia, retired president and CEO of Pratt&Lambert; and secretary, Rev. Richard Stenhouse, pastor of the Bethel AME Church and head of the Jeremiah Project.

The Batavia Development Corp., an organization that works to encourage the development and retention of businesses in the City of Batavia by providing low interest loans to small entrepreneurial firms in the area, named Pierluigi Cipollone president. Cipollone is also the president and CEO of Paramount Computing Associates, a Batavia-based firm that provides enterprise business applications development services for mid-to large-sized businesses.

Phillips Lytle attorney Timothy W. Hoover served as a moderator for a recent presentation titled “U. S. Supreme Court Review and Preview, October 2008-October 2009 Terms.” The event, presented by Erie Institute of Law, provided participants with a review of key decisions from the U. S. Supreme Court’s 2008 term in criminal law and the rights of criminal defendants, federal procedure, employment discrimination, civil rights and federal preemption of state law claims as well as a discussion of pending cases in the current October 2009 term before the U. S. Supreme Court.

Tompkins Insurance Agencies promoted Kelly Herold to claims supervisor at the company’s Batavia office. An eight-year employee with the agency, Herold will oversee the process for both commercial and personal insurance claims.

Fredonia State College named Patricia Herkey communications designer. Herkey’s 17 years of experience and leadership in corporate, retail and nonprofit graphic design include serving as head of Herkey Design for the past year, and as senior art director for several Buffalo-based advertising agencies, including The Martin Group, Quinlan&Company, The Wolf Group, and Travers/Collins/ Partners. She is a graduate of the graphic design and advertising program at Buffalo State College.

Goldberg Segalla partner Dennis P. Glascott was selected to be a fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of 1 percent of American lawyers.

StudentVoice, a Buffalo-headquartered assessment company, named Timothy Wilson and Anise Saif to its development staff. Wilson is a graduate of Houghton College. Saif, a graduate of the University at Buffalo, most recently worked as a senior developer at Sitel. Also, the company named Andrea Palmer coordinator, Campus Support. Palmer, previously an account manager, is a graduate of Ithaca College.

Tim Rosenthal, a licensed real estate salesperson at Realtyusa. com’s Amherst/Clarence office has earned his Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) certification through the National Association of REALTORS.
