Eye Care and Vision Associates, an eye care medical practice, welcomed Dr. William J. Waldron to its Niagara Falls office, 6917 Plaza Drive, on Thursdays. Waldron will continue to see patients at the Orchard Park office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A practicing optometrist for 16 years, he previously worked in an ophthalmology practice in Western New York before opening his own practice, Clarence Eye Care, in 1994. He joined ECVA in 2008. Waldron received his doctor of optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

Hauptman-Woodward principal research scientist Dr. Vivian Cody and collaborator Dr. Samantha J. Richardson of the RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, have released a book. “Recent Advances in Transthyretin Evolution, Structure and Biological Functions” covers both basic and clinical research into transthyretin and provides an example study of the evolution of protein structure-function relationships. Cody is also a University at Buffalo professor of structural biology.

Simco Supply, Williamsville, was awarded a$36,504 federal contract for detector tubes from the Defense Logistics Agency’s Defense Supply Center, Richmond, Va.

Dresser-Rand Co., Painted Post, was awarded a$30,000 federal contract for the repair and modification of compressor units from the U. S. Naval Supply Systems Command, Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Ontario Knife Co., Franklinville, was awarded a$44,441 federal contract for combat knives from the Defense Logistics Agency’s Defense Supply Center, Columbus, Ohio.

Thomas Johnson Construction of Orchard Park was named a national Red Diamond Achiever for excellence and service in building by Integrity Windows and Doors.

Contributing

Ernst&Young managing partner Michael Murray, a University at Buffalo alumnus, and his wife, Catherine, presented $75,000 to the University at Buffalo School of Management to name the Michael and Catherine Murray Mezzanine on the third floor of the Alfiero Center. Also, UB alumni Lisa Filomia-Aktas, George Brooks, Steven Diamond, Stephen Ferguson, Keith Feuz, James Frank, Gary Koster, John Martinkat and Srikant Nagaraj pledged nearly $100,000 to the university to name a newly created space, the Ernst&Young Study Center, on the second floor of the Alfiero Center. All are employees of Ernst and Young.
