Weinberg Campus, a senior living complex in Getzville, appointed Clare Root director of community outreach and campus life. Root most recently was associate director at the Roycroft Campus Corp. Also, the facility’s chief financial officer, Robert Mayer, was selected as a member of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging’s Leadership Fellowship program.
Synacor, a Buffalo technology company, named Angie Ricci a client release specialist, Dave Henning a developer and Dave Goehrig a lead developer for the TV/Video Group. Ricci previously was a client operations specialist for ClientLogic Corp. She earned an MBA at Canisius College. Henning, a computer systems software graduate from Fredonia State College, previously worked as a senior developer for Noein Inc. Goehrig, who most recently ran his own business for the past six years, is a Canisius College grad. Also, the company named Greg Gillette a corporate system administrator and Shawn Zabler a senior systems administrator. Gillette, an Alfred State College grad, previously was a network administrator for Gaymar Industries. Previously, Zabler worked as a site operations manager for Cabelas.
Adrian Jules Custom Clothiers appointed Sarah Mahoney a professional wardrobe consultant. Mahoney previously owned Washington Market in downtown Buffalo. Adrian Jules Ltd. was founded in 1964 as a Rochester-based gentlemen’s custom clothier and manufacturer.

Gov. David A. Paterson announced the following grants in Western New York to strengthen and support the growth of New York’s clean energy economy.
$114,000 for Electrical Power worX CorpEPX in Alfred, to develop a business plan for its ultracapacitor- based energy storage system for use in electrified mass transit.
$200,000 for Ashland Advanced Materials LLC in Niagara Falls, a manufacturer of advanced carbon and graphite products for use within the energy industry, to develop a sales plan.
$200,000 for Alternative Fuel Boilers LLC, in Dunkirk, which has designed and built the EconoBurn wood gasification boiler, an alternative fuel source for residential and commercial heating.
$157,500 for Double A Willow in Fredonia to demonstrate that large-scale biomass energy projects can be supported with energy crops grown on underutilized land.
Eric Mower and Associates, a marketing communications agency with offices in Charlotte, N. C.; Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Albany; Atlanta, Ga.; and Sarasota, Fla., was named agency of record for Majestic Steel USA, a Cleveland-based distributor of prime galvanized steel. EMA will provide advertising, public relations, interactive and direct marketing to the company.
Cats Like Us, a retro clothing boutique selling fashions from the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s in modern fabrics and contemporary sizes, recently was opened by Julie Ann and Andrew Davis at Main and Broad streets in the City of Tonawanda.
FB Displays&Designs, a Williamsville event marketing solutions provider, designed and produced displays for Oklahoma Christian University, Tulane University, RIT, Roberts Wesleyan College, Yale University, St. Bonaventure University, University of South Florida, Canisius College, Trocaire College and Fredonia State College. The various displays are primarily used for photo-ops, recruitment fairs, special events, trade shows and sponsorship opportunities.
The Wellness Community and Gilda’s Club Worldwide unveiled a new, combined identity, Cancer Support Community, recently in Washington, D. C. As an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, Gilda’s Club Western New York will remain known as Gilda’s Club WNY but will have access to the new resources and programs the Cancer Support Community is dedicated to developing.
