The Buffalo Niagara region ranked No. 17 on a Forbes list of the nation’s 100 “best bang for the buck” cities.
The rankings were compiled based on a combination of job, housing and commuting statistics. Omaha, Neb., was No. 1, while among upstate areas, Syracuse was No. 15.
Forbes examine foreclosures as a percentage of housing units; vacancies; unemployment rates; a three-year job growth forecast; a three-year home price forecast; housing affordability; median real estate taxes; and median travel time to work.
Buffalo’s best category was foreclosures as a percentage of housing units, where it ranked fifth, and had its worst showing in real estate taxes, where it was 76th.
