The Boys&Girls Club of the Northtowns named Harold Knittel its Volunteer of the Year. Knittel has served on the board of directors for the past five years as well as serving as facilities chairman for five years. Knittel is a project manager at Calamar, a Wheatfield-based real estate organization.

The following employees of John W. Danforth Co. recently passed the LEED Green Associate exam earning the LEED Green Associate accreditation: Emmett Reilly, president; Robert Beck, vice president; John Samar, senior project manager; Michael Bement, Jeff Ellis, Steve Hollis, Noah Huard, Curtis Kruschke, Antone Olney, Bob Praties, Norb Rehner, Jason Rudich, Fred Ruffino, Mike Schifano, Kevin Schedlbauer, Chris Sclavunos, Sean Smith, Jon Snell, Mark Staub, Jeff Thomson, Frank Willett, project managers; and Tony Prinz, service manager. J. W. Danforth is a Tonawanda-based mechanical contractor that provides HVAC, plumbing, and duct cleaning in the Buffalo and Rochester areas.

Dopkins and Co. Tax Advisory Group director Albert A. Nigro presented “The Value of Financial Accounting and Reporting for Biotechnology Startups” at session six of the Becoming a Leader in the Life Sciences series sponsored by University at Buffalo Division of Continuing and Professional Studies and state Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences.

Clark Air Conditioning Systems, East Aurora, was awarded a $63,558 federal contract for air conditioning filter elements from the Defense Logistics Agency’s Defense Supply Center, Philadelphia.

Luminescent Systems, East Aurora, was awarded a $48,790 federal contract for indicating panels from the Defense Logistics Agency’s Defense Supply Center, Richmond, Va.

Avox Systems, Lancaster, was awarded a $33,461.10 federal contract for retaining ring nut assemblies from the Defense Logistics Agency’s Defense Supply Center, Philadelphia.

Ensil Technical Services, Lewiston, was awarded a $23,823 federal contract for electrical and electronic equipment components from the U. S. Air Force Materiel Command, Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Erdman Anthony, a national engineering consulting firm with offices in Rochester, Albany, Buffalo, and Poughkeepsie; Harrisburg, Pa.; and West Palm Beach, Fla., was named one of the Top 100 Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Engineering Giants in the nation based on a survey conducted by Consulting- Specifying Engineer magazine. Firms were chosen for inclusion based on total annual design revenues.

The Catholic Independent Practice Association in Buffalo, a partnership between the four acute care hospitals of the Catholic Health System and more than 750 member physicians, selected eClinicalWorks unified electronic medical record and practice management software for the Catholic Health System’s network of ambulatory care offices and for select community physicians, purchasing 150 licenses. eClinicalWorks will also work with the IPA to connect into HEALTHeLINK, the local Regional Health Information Organization. eClinicalWorks is a Westborough, Mass.-based ambulatory clinical systems provider.
