Outback Steakhouse regional food technician Michael Prestidge recently completed a trip to the Middle East as a volunteer with Operation Feeding Freedom VII, an annual mission sponsored by OSI Restaurant Partners. Prestidge joined 28 other OSI volunteers from around the country who served 37,000 U. S. and coalition soldiers approximately 55,000 pounds of food.

Dopkins Medical Solutions consultant Bonnie J. Chandler passed the national certification examination for medical coding given by the American Academy of Professional Coders. Also, the company named Marie A. Haagen a medical billing specialist. Haagen graduated from Bryant&Stratton College with an associate’s degree in medical office management.

Leslie Mark Greenbaum, an attorney with Gross Shuman Brizdle and Gilfillan, presented a seminar recently at Buffalo Arts Studio covering sales tax, income tax and estate planning issues specific to artists.

LU Modern Classics, a locally owned clothing store offering women’s and men’s clothing and accessories from local and international sources, recently opened a new location in the Orchards Shopping Plaza at 3995 N. Buffalo Ave., Orchard Park. The retailer has several locations in Western New York, including Lu’s Boathouse in Wilson and a store opening soon in Ellicott Square, 295 Main St.

Contributing

The Patrick P. Lee Foundation of Amherst provided $130,000 in funding to the Elmwood Health Center, at 2128 Elmwood Ave., for the redesign of its registration area and improvements in the efficiency of its communications equipment. The center also recently received a nearly $400,000 grant from the federal government for an electronic medical records system.
