Roswell Park Cancer Institute appointed Dr. Anita Ankola body MRI director in the diagnostic radiology department. Most recently, Ankola served a fellowship in abdominal imaging at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her diagnostic radiology residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and began her radiology training at the University at Buffalo.
Nichols School named Jennifer Lee McNamara, Jeff Meyer and Alexandra Montante members of the board of trustees. McNamara is a trustee of the Patrick Lee Foundation and the Roswell Park Cancer Institute Alliance Foundation. Meyer is president of Baillie Lumber Co. Montante most recently taught at Nardin Montessori.
The Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards, CLARB, a nonprofit international association that works to establish standards for education, experience and examination required for the professional licensure of landscape architects, re-elected James Rathmann the Region I director on the 2009-2010 CLARB board of directors. Region I includes Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia. Rathmann was employed for 32 years at Kideney Architects, a Buffalo-based architecture firm, and currently serves as a consultant.

The law firm Phillips Lytle recently celebrated its 175th anniversary at the Buffalo&Erie County Historical Society. In honor of the occasion, Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown proclaimed September 17 Phillips Lytle Day in the City of Buffalo. The firm’s founding partner, Orsamus H. Marshall, was also one of the founders of the Historical Society. The law firm employs more than 400 individuals in seven offices across New York State, including more than 170 attorneys.
Foit-Albert Associates, Architecture, Engineering, and Surveying formed a strategic relationship with the Italian structural engineering firm Pio Gianluca Tonti. For the past three months, Pio Gianluca Tonti, owner of PGT Engineering, has worked with Foit-Albert Associates to learn about American sustainable buildings and energy-saving processes. They hope to initiate a new exchange program with the University at Buffalo. Foit-Albert Associates is a 105-person architecture, engineering and surveying firm with offices located in Albany, Buffalo, New York City and Watertown.
Fantastic Sams recently celebrated the grand reopening of its Cheektowaga salon at 59 S. Rossler Ave. in the Valu Plaza. Dyrene Wilson and Crawford Gardner are the owners of the salon.
