The Landmark Society of West-ern New York appointed Mark Powell director of development. Powell most recently served as the managing director of the Uniquely Houston Program at the Houston Music Hall Foundation. The Landmark Society of Western New York is a preservation organization serving nine western New York counties.
Crescent Electric Supply Co. Vice President Mark Rizzetto achieved Leadership in Energy and Environment Design accreditation through the U. S. Green building Council and the Green Building Certification Institute.
Jeffrey L. Offhaus, CPA, an Orchard Park accounting firm, named Jennifer Kapalczynski a staff accountant. Kapalczynski was previously with NanoDynamics.
Prometheus Books, an independent book publisher in Amherst, appointed Jennifer Kovach publicist and Jade Zora Ballard assistant editor.

The Empire State Development Corp. has awarded ECR International a $1 million grant for machinery and equipment. The company, which designs, manufactures and markets heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment, was formed in 1999 through the merger of The Utica Companies and Dunkirk Radiator Corp. ECR will consolidate operations into newly updated Dunkirk and Utica locations. The company will retain 247 existing jobs: 115 in Dunkirk and 132 in Utica. The company will also create 72 new jobs: 55 in Dunkirk and 17 in Utica. Total project cost is $17,894,000.

Three Western New York pharmacists recently opened VasuScript, a full-service pharmacy located at the VascuFlo Center in Cheektowaga that offers free home delivery of prescription and over-the-counter medication. The pharmacy accepts all insurances, including Medicare-D and Medicaid.
Ten attorneys at Hurwitz&Fine were identified by other lawyers as outstanding in their respective fields in the 2009 New York Super Lawyers magazine. Additionally, two of the lawyers were named to the list of the Top 25 Female New York Super Lawyers and one to the Top 10 New York Super Lawyers in all of Upstate New York in that same publication.
