As dawn broke Thursday morning, workers at the HarborCenter construction site in downtown Buffalo were already well on their way to pouring more than 1,200 cubic yards of concrete over Perry Street to connect the new building to the First Niagara Center.
Crews began gathering at 1:30 a.m. on both the east and west sides of the site, and two hours later, a pair of pump-crete trucks started sending the thick, gray cement mixture through a 52-meter blue tube to the top of the project.
When complete, the crew will have pumped the equivalent of 275 driveways of concrete.
