LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) Visitors planning some late-summer trips to Lake George should expect to find road crews on busy Route 9L.

State officials say a $1.6 million project to resurface 5.6 miles of the road is set to start this Friday and continue on weekdays through the end of the month.

The road on the east side of the lake has considerable winter damage that will be fixed by removing the old pavement and laying down new blacktop.

The work is being done from Beach Road in Lake George to Cleverdale Road in Queensbury.
