NEW YORK (AP) — Prosecutors say a Bronx man will spend 20 years in prison for a fatal "revenge stabbing."
District Attorney Robert Johnson says 34-year-old Santos Santiago was sentenced Monday. The Latin Kings gang member was convicted of manslaughter in June for the 2009 death of 18-year-old Miguel Baret.
The defendant had gotten into a fight with a group over a dispute involving his son. The DA says Baret "joined in the fray" and had a knife plunged into his chest.
The victim had an 8-month-old daughter.
Baret's father, Jose Baret, addressed the court. Speaking in Spanish, he said his grief is a "wound that will not stop bleeding."
