BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Two Civil War-era cannons have again become part of the landscape at a Buffalo park.
Park officials say the cast-iron cannons were recently found rusting among weeds in a city storage lot. They were among eight cannons that used to be displayed in Front Park facing Lake Erie. The city sold off the others for scrap during the Depression and World War II.
The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy undertook the restoration project and on Thursday re-installed them.
