NEW YORK (AP) — A driver fleeing after being pulled over for a traffic infraction was killed after he slammed into the back of a flatbed truck stopped at a light.
Police say the 22-year-old man took off in his 2003 Infinity shortly after he was stopped by police near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway at noon Wednesday.
A preliminary police investigation determined that the driver was attempting to get off the expressway at Atlantic Avenue when he crashed into the tractor trailer.
The driver suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Leroy Samuel of Brooklyn.
A female passenger in his car complained of back and neck pain and was taken to a hospital where she was in stable condition.
