LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — Ian Kinsler hit his first two home runs for the Detroit Tigers, highlighting a 14-3 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday.
Kinsler drove in four runs. Torii Hunter and Danny Worth each had three RBIs.
Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer pitched 4 2-3 innings, giving up three runs and five hits, including Robbie Grossman's first spring homer.
Houston starter Lucas Harrell was tagged for 12 hits and nine earned runs in 1 2-3 innings. Doubles by Hunter and Nick Castellanos were among eight hits in a six-run first inning.
Kinsler homered in the second inning after a single by Miguel Cabrera. The three-time All-Star second baseman, acquired in an offseason trade that sent Prince Fielder to Texas, led off the fourth with a home run against reliever Chad Qualls.
Tyler Collins homered, tripled and singled for the Tigers.
