EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (AP) — A correction officer is recovering after he was stabbed at a Long Island hospital.
Dozens of police officers searched the Nassau University Medical Center on Wednesday morning looking for the attacker.
He was still being sought Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the Nassau County correction officer was guarding a prisoner at the hospital.
Another man approached the officer from behind and slashed his neck. He was treated and released.
The prisoner remains under guard at the hospital.
Access to the medical facility was restricted while police searched the building. The officer was attacked on the ninth floor.
