Colombian forward Radamel Falcao has left a hospital in Porto, Portugal, after surgery to repair his left anterior cruciate ligament.
Falcao was leaning on crutches Tuesday when he departed Porto Trindade, where knee specialist Dr. Jose Carlos Noronha operated Saturday.
Carlos Ulloa, head of the Colombian Football Federation, accompanied Falcao to a hotel in Porto, where the player will recuperate for three weeks before returning to Monaco, his club in the French league.
Noronha said Monday that Falcao had a 50 percent chance of being fit enough to play in the World Cup, where Colombia opens against Greece on June 14.
The 27-year-old Falcao, who finished 11th in FIFA Player of the Year voting, has 20 goals in 51 international appearances, including nine goals in qualifying for this year's World Cup.
