ENDICOTT, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a 39-year-old man has died in a Broome County apartment fire.
When firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire in Endicott at 5:43 a.m. Sunday, they found heavy smoke and flames in one apartment. Endicott Police tell local media outlets that Michael Kelley, who lived in the apartment, was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire was confined to his apartment but other units had smoke and water damage.
Investigators from Broome County Emergency Services are working to determine the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started in the kitchen.
