BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A reproduction of a five-paneled skylight designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright has been installed at Buffalo's Wright-designed Darwin D. Martin House.
The installation is part of the ongoing restoration of the 16-room house, which was designed by Wright for a Buffalo businessman in the early 1900s.
The estate originally contained close to 400 panels of colorful art glass, including windows, doors and skylights, but less than half of those pieces remain on site. Many were removed or destroyed during a 17-year period when the house was abandoned.
The Martin House Restoration Corp. has been trying to buy back pieces and is having others, like the skylight, reproduced.
