NEW YORK (AP) — New York City's famed Empire State Building is shining with the colors of South Africa's flag to honor Nelson Mandela.
The 1,454-foot skyscraper in midtown Manhattan lit up Friday with blue, red, yellow and green tower lights. The lights will shine through Saturday to honor the memory of Mandela.
Mandela died Thursday at age 95. He was his nation's first black president and an anti-apartheid icon.
The South African government has said Mandela will be honored with a state burial on Dec. 15.
