GEDDES, N.Y. (AP) — State police say three people from Rochester have escaped with minor injuries after a guard rail sliced through the front seat of a cargo van when it crashed on the Thruway near Syracuse.
Troopers say the Chevrolet Express van was traveling east on Interstate 90 when it crashed around 7 a.m. Friday in the town of Geddes (GEH'-dehs).
Police say the vehicle left the highway and hit the end of the rail. It came through the driver's side window, went through the van and exited the passenger side window as the vehicle rolled onto its roof.
Troopers say the driver and rear-seat passenger were able to free themselves from the wrecked van. The front-seat passenger was extricated by firefighters.
Police say no major or life-threatening injuries were reported.
