LOWVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — A 56-year-old northern New York man has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting his son during an argument earlier this year.
Local media outlets report that Lyle Davoy pleaded guilty Monday in Lewis County Court to second-degree murder for using a 20-gauge shotgun to kill his 29-year-old son, also named Lyle. Davoy made the plea as jury selection for his trial was about to start.
Police say the elder Davoy shot this son on May 13 while they argued outside a home in the town of Watson, 60 miles of northeast of Syracuse. The younger man had relocated to northern New York a few years earlier and had been living with his father.
Prosecutors say Davoy faces no more than 17½ years to life in state prison when he's sentenced Dec. 6.
