NEW YORK (AP) — A warehouse full of stock caught on fire at the Hunts Point Market in the Bronx, with the blaze going all the way up to four alarms.
The Fire Department says there are no civilian injuries. One firefighter suffered serious injuries and eight others had minor injuries. All were taken to the hospital.
Deputy Assistant Chief James Daly says the call about the fire came in around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.
He says firefighters had to force their way into the complex. The heat was so high in the warehouse that there were concerns over possible structural collapse.
The flames spread into the office areas above the warehouse storage area as well. The blaze went to four alarms, with 170 firefighters responding.
It was placed under control around 3 p.m.
