MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — The attorney for a New York man who recently had his sex abuse conviction thrown out says the man has died.
Thomas Green died of cancer Thursday night at Stony Brook University Medical Center. Attorney Ronald Kuby says the Selden, Long Island, man was 66.
In August, U.S. District Judge Arthur Spatt vacated Green's 2008 conviction on sex abuse and sodomy charges, citing questions over evidence introduced at trial.
The judge found inaccuracies with the dates on evidence corroborating the testimony of some of the girls' accusations.
Suffolk County prosecutors were appealing that ruling before deciding whether to retry Green. A spokesman for the district attorney's office did not immediately comment.
Green had been free on $100,000 bail.
