POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — A Mount Vernon anesthesiologist has been sentenced for his role in a scheme to sell 16,000 oxycodone pills with a street value of $480,000 in Dutchess County.
The Journal News (http://lohud.us/19Dvxur ) says Dr. Arnold Roth was sentenced Thursday to one to three years in prison.
He had pleaded guilty to conspiracy and criminal sale of a prescription for a controlled substance.
Prosecutors say he issued the prescriptions illegally between June 2011 and August 2012.
An accomplice, Nidal Aljamal, pleaded guilty to drug charges in July and is awaiting sentencing.
Authorities say three other unidentified people were working for Aljamal.
