OYSTER BAY, N.Y. (AP) — Police on Long Island say a sanitation worker was fatally struck by a car in Oyster Bay.
Police say 45-year-old Steven Giacobello, of Westbury, had just emptied a refuse container into his truck and was returning to the driver's seat when he was struck by a BMW driven by a 25-year-old woman.
Police say Giacobello suffered severe head trauma and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. It happened on West Main Street just after 7 a.m. Monday.
Police say no charges are pending at this time.
