SETAUKET, N.Y. (AP) A man who was shot to death in his home is described as a well-known member of Long Island's equestrian community.

Suffolk County police say Ross Reisner of Setauket (seh-TAW'-keht) was shot in the chest around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Another person in the home told police that gunshots were fired through a window.

The executive director of the Hampton Classic horse show said Wednesday that Reisner was popular with riding students and very kind to his horses.

Shanette Barth Cohen tells WINS Radio (http://cbsloc.al/1b5wkpW ) that Reisner's death is a "real shock" and has saddened the equestrian community.
