SETAUKET, N.Y. (AP) A man who was shot to death in his home is described as a well-known member of Long Island's equestrian community.

Suffolk County police say Ross Reisner of Setauket (seh-TAW'-keht) was shot in the chest around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Another person in the home told police that gunshots were fired through a window.

The executive director of the Hampton Classic horse show said Wednesday that Reisner was popular with riding students and very kind to his horses.

Shanette Barth Cohen tells WINS Radio ( ) that Reisner's death is a "real shock" and has saddened the equestrian community.
