NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. – The Park Lane Farms medical marijuana greenhouses are growing 4,000 medical marijuana plants under license by Health Canada as a result of regional legislation that became effective in April.

Each of the plants is slated to produce what Angus Footman, president of the company, described as between 100 and 300 grams of medical marijuana.

Footman said the operation is heavily protected by video cameras, alarms and 24-hour security guards. The operation is located in the former St. Davids Hydroponics greenhouses.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake facility is only one of 14 such operations licensed across Canada.
