BATAVIA – Three ceremonies will be held this week to administer the oaths of office to city, county, village and town officials elected last November.
The largest ceremony will involve about 30 legislators, supervisors and other officials. It will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Genesee County Courts Facility.
On Wednesday, the City Council will hold its biennial organizational meeting to select a council president. James E. Buckley is stepping down from an office selected by the full council but limited to one of three at-large members.
They are Brooks M. Hawley, who was appointed to the council and later re-elected to a full term, and newcomers Eugene A. Jankowski and John Deleo.
The county Legislature will swear in its nine members at 7 p.m., Wednesday and choose a new chairman. Mary Pat Hancock, a 22-year veteran and chairwoman for the past 13 years, did not seek another term.
The swearing-in will be conducted by county judge Robert C. Noonan, family court judge Eric R. Adams and county clerk Don M. Read.
