The state Department of Transportation is continuing work on the culvert and bridge rehabilitation project on Route 78, Transit Road, in the village of Depew, resulting in new travel restrictions beginning at 9 a.m. Monday.
Transit Road, between George Urban Boulevard and French Road, will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Access to and from Columbia Avenue and Olmstead Avenue from Transit Road will be closed to all traffic. Temporary barriers will be in place.
The lane and access closures are expected to last for four to six weeks. During the lane closures, motorists should expect delays and are advised to seek alternative routes.

• A free community electronics recycling event will be held in the parking lot of Depew High School, 5201 S. Transit Road, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 27.
The event, hosted by state Assemblyman Dennis H. Gabryszak, will accept common household electronics such as laptops, desktops, computer accessories, televisions, monitors, audio/video equipment, cell phones, and many other items.
Residents should not bring items containing Freon, gas-powered equipment or household hazardous waste.
Sunnking Electronics Recycling will be handling the recycling of the items and will donate a penny per pound of electronics collected to the Lancaster and Cheektowaga youth bureaus. Time Warner Cable will provide reflective T-shirts for youth bureau volunteers.
