A third-grade East Aurora school teacher will be the newly-created assistant principal working in the Parkdale Elementary and Middle schools.

The School Board has appointed Parkdale Elementary teacher Matthew Brown to the assistant principal post for kindergarten through eighth grade, at a $62,000 salary. He will split his time between both schools. Brown begins work in his new post on Thursday.

The administration said an assitant principal position was warranted to help alleviate the workload and time crunch for principals also tasked with the new state-required teacher observations that have been put in place.

A new teacher will be hired to fill his classroom position.
