The Chautauqua County Health Department has lifted its order to boil and conserve water in the Village of Fredonia.

The health department issued the order for village customers Wednesday morning when a pump at the village’s treatment plant failed, causing a problem with the clarity of drinking water that did not meet health department standards.

The treatment plant was back to normal operations on Friday and staff tested water samples on Saturday and Sunday.

The order was lifted at 3 p.m. Monday.

Customers should also flush their plumbing systems by running faucets, tubs and other water fixtures to ensure water is safe throughout the plumbing.
