Christmas festivities are beginning to perk in East Aurora.

The Community Advent Chorale is presenting a performance of Handel’s Messiah, with professional soloists and a chamber orchestra under the direction of Gregory White. The 90-member chorale is comprised of singers from across Western New York. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 1) at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, Main and Center streets. A free will offering will be taken.

Also on Saturday, The Walk-In Closet is hosting a winter wonderland with an in-store Santa Claus and elves from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free pictures with Santa and hot cocoa and donuts will be offered. Horse-drawn sleigh rides will be offered up and down Main Street from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Prima Oliva, which sells olive oils and vinegars, is co-sponsor of the sleigh ride event.

The Roycroft Winter Festival also will be held next weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the East Aurora Middle School, where 35 artisans will display and sell their handcrafted wares. Holiday music and food will be available. The Roycrofters-At-Large Association is sponsoring the event.
