Western New York Heritage Press is hosting a student essay contest for students in grades four and up. The essays should focus on some aspect of the art, architecture or history of Western New York. Mount St. Mary Academy, 3756 Delaware Ave., Kenmore, will host the stage adaptation of "The Blue Rose" by Gerda Weissmann Klein at 7 p.m. Tuesday. A special performance has been scheduled for 700 schoolchildren at 10 a.m. Monday. Each performance will conclude with a brief question-and-answer session with Klein, a Holocaust survivor and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2010).
