An Akron man has been arrested for possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced Wednesday.

Michael A. Taschetta, 54, is accused of downloading images of child pornography from the Internet with a peer-to-peer file-software program, Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango said.

The charges are the result of an investigation by special agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations division, officials said. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
