BATAVIA – Genesee Community College has added a seventh campus center and its first thousands of miles away in a high school in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City.

Twenty Vietnamese students are enrolled in accelerated college studies at an independent preparatory school. The school, in the former city of Saigon, uses GCC curricula and certified adjunct faculty members.

Courses are being offered in math, French and business. Credits earned are transferable to GCC and most other colleges in the United States. Most of the students would like to attend college in the U.S., according to Edward J. Levinstein who heads GCC’s Accelerated College Enrollment Program.

Of its 7,600 full- and part-time students, 130 from two dozen different nations are enrolled in GCC classes.
