Friends and loved ones of Sgt. Brett E. Gornewicz, who died Nov. 3 in Afghanistan when his armored vehicle struck a roadside bomb, are asking the public to join them in honoring him when his body is returned to home Sunday.
His coffin arrives at the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport this morning. A procession will follow starting at about 10 a.m. from the airport to the funeral home in Alden.
The route will go from the airport down Transit Road and then east on Broadway through Lancaster to the Charles Meyer Funeral Home at 13228 Broadway, Alden.
Participants are asked to wave American flags in his honor.
