George Tor scored his 15th and 16th goals of the season, and Tom Austin had three assists as Medaille’s men’s soccer completed regular-season play with a 4-0 victory over Pitt-Bradford at All High Stadium Tuesday night.
The Mavericks built a 3-0 first-half lead on goals by Kevin Dhillon, Tor and Pablo Ordonez as they improved their season record to 15-2-0. Tor closed the scoring with a second-half goal.
Medaille wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, when Dhillon found the back of the net just 57 seconds into the contest.
Nick Kurtz needed to make just three saves for the shutout.
The visiting Panthers were limited to six shots on the night and attempted just two corner kicks to the Mavericks’ nine. Adam Forster suffered the loss in net, collecting nine saves. Pitt-Bradford ended the season with a record of 3-14 and 2-7 in the AMCC.
Medaille, which completed conference play with an 8-1 record to tie Penn State-Behrend for first place, will open postseason play in the semifinals of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference playoffs next Wednesday against the winner of Saturday’s Pitt-Greensbury at LaRoche first-round game in Pitsburgh.
Behrend wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the AMCC playoffs with a 3-1 win over Hilbert on Tuesday.
Dhillon, a senior defender from Toronto, Tuesday became the second AMCC athlete to be named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Dhillon anchored a backline that held Pitt-Greensburg to just three shots on goal as Medaille registered its 10th shutout of the season last week. That win also secured a first-round bye in the AMCC playoffs for the Mavericks.
The Medaille women’s team managed just two shots on goal in a 1-0 loss to Pitt-Bradford, finishing 8-1 in AMCC play.
Pitt-Bradford wrapped up its best season ever in the AMCC with an 8-1 record.
