The Genesee County Sheriff's Department has opened an investigation into accusations that an off-duty Niagara Falls police officer assaulted a woman at a Darien Lake Concert in August.
Niagara Falls Police Officer Kelly L. Alcorn, 47, of Grand Island was arraigned in Darien Town Court Tuesday on harassment charges in the Aug. 25 incident. Town Justice Gary Graber adjourned the case to Oct. 23 while the case remains under investigation.
The victim, Elizabeth Dake, 45, accused Alcorn of assault, saying she was "brutally and mercilessly" assaulted with no provocation. Dake wrote in an email that she had been grabbed by the hair, punched in the head, neck, arm, and back and had her head slammed into a concrete wall. She noted that she suffered a concussion and was out of work for nine days.
Dake has submitted medical information and has asked that the charges be upgraded, which led to the case being reopened against Alcorn.
