BATAVIA - Incumbent Councilman Chad Zambito was a more than 2-1 winner Thursday in a GOP primary over John P. Gerace, a former board member.
The vote in a sparse turnout was 197-89. Both had resigned from the board, and Zambito was appointed in July to complete the two years remaining in Gerace's term.
Gerace had resigned in April after serving for seven years. Zambito stepped down five years ago and was backed in the primary by the town's GOP committee.
He will be on the ballot Nov. 6 in a town with a 2-1 Republican registration edge.
