Two people were taken to Mercy Hospital for difficulty breathing following a two-alarm fire in Lackawanna early this morning, fire officials said.
The fire broke out on the rear porch at 22 Edna Place, before extending into the house and spreading next door, Lackawanna Fire Capt. Jeffrey Palczewski said. Firefighters responded to a 4:15 a.m. alarm, before a second alarm was sounded about 15 minutes later.
Fire investigators are looking at a possible electrical cause for the blaze, which extensively damaged the home at 22 Edna Place, three blocks south of Ridge Road.
A preliminary estimate pegged the damage at $30,000 to 22 Edna Place and $5,000 exterior damage next door at 16 Edna Place, Palczewski said.
