Earl L. Stoddard of Depew, co-founder and former owner of a carpet installation service, died Tuesday in Williamsville Suburban Nursing Facility. He was 80.
Born in Buffalo, he attended city public schools and was an Army paratrooper in the Korean War.
In 1972, Mr. Stoddard co-founded International Carpet Service and was a co-owner of the business until his retirement in 1993. That same year, he began working on the maintenance crew for Wegmans supermarkets.
Mr. Stoddard was a Golden Gloves boxer and classic bowler.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Patricia Zimmer; five daughters, Kim Szymczak, Kelley Moeller, Tracey Dwyer, Patty Vito and Sandra; and two sons, Albert and George.
Funeral services were held Thursday in Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Depew.
