Coach: Mike Dean, 2nd season

Outlook: Akron kicks off with nine starters as it gladly rejoins Class C. The Tigers return all their skill position players and three offensive linemen. Junior Austin Mietz brings a year of varsity experience to the QB position. Carl Baker and Connor Ladd will be his targets at WR. Inside linebackers Ladd and Kyle Sundown will spearhead the 4-4 defense. Joe Keller will lead the O-line at center. Akron is looking forward to its game with Niagara-Orleans League rival Wilson.

Coach: Glen Graham, 8th season

Outlook: If Daryl Spencer has a big year, so will Cleveland Hill. The senior QB/SS was the Eagles' leading rusher last year, earning all-league honors. Davonte Davis, a league all-star on the D-line, will move to LB. Junior LB Jonathan Thomas had more than 100 tackles last year. The Eagles hope Canisius transfer and All-WNYer first team OL Corey Madlock can go after he dinged his knee at a team camp.

Coach: Bob Ball, 12th season

Outlook: Plenty of talent returns for the defending Section VI Class C champion Hillbillies, coming off a school record 10-win season. Junior Zach Buckley, who has big-play capability, returns at RB/LB. Senior Dylan Cassidy led the team in receiving yards and was all-league at DB. He was a state track qualifier in the hurdles last spring. OL/DE Nick Nocek was a two-way starter last year as a sophomore. Senior Conner Farnham moves from SE to QB. The O-line returns Nocek and Casey Crane. Ready to make the jump from JV to varsity starter are junior LB Trent Thompson, sophomore SE/CB Weston Ley and LB Tyler Cassidy.

Coach: Sean Gabel, 3rd season

Outlook: Gabel said his Panthers look to put four strong quarters together, stay healthy and get a lot out of their two-way starters. Based on his offseason work, senior Alex Sternisha looks to have another all-star season at QB. He also has a 98 academic average. He'll be protected on the line by senior Steven Hedges. RB Christian Francis is the go-to guy in the backfield. Derick Miller is a threat at WR.

Outlook: Ostempowski expects his team will be competitive with a senior class led by QB/WR Christian Boettcher, TE Ken Minorczyk and WR/K Jim Quinn. Senior Mike Wild is coming off an all-star season on the OL. On of the top juniors is LB Khaliq Satcher, who has 4.6 speed. The Bears welcome their return to Class C. JVs were 7-1.

Coach: Icky Satcher, 7th season

Outlook: The Violets qualified for the Class A playoffs last year, but had the misfortune of drawing Sweet Home in the first round. Now in Class C, Satcher is looking for a big year from RG/DT Anthony Rogers and WR/DB Prentice Thornton, both seniors. Rashaan Robinson will be a threat coming out of the backfield. "We're looking for skill position players, we're going to be strong up front. Whomever we do get on the team, they will be prepared," said Satcher. "Lafayette will be ready."

Coach: Bill Atlas, 5th season

Outlook: The undeniable leaders of the defense will be a pair of linebackers coming off all-star seasons, Cam Sidote, who led the team in tackles, and Pat Walch. Another returning LB is Kevin Daunce, who started last year as a freshman. Junior QB Justin Slango has above-average speed and makes good reads. Junior WR/DB Nick Bell, dinged up last year, earned a late-season call-up from the JV. Senior RB/S/LB Kevin Barrett and Sidote will share the carries. Linemen Steve Szuba and Mike Burt are back after starting as sophomores.
