The Buffalo of a half-century past

Buy News photos |

Among the material in The Buffalo News archives is a collection of aerial photos from the last century. The following are a sample of photos taken in the 1950s and the 1960s, and they showcase a changing city that in many cases looks remarkably different today. Where available, caption information has been included with images. From the caption accompanying this photo taken in 1950: “How high-level bridge would go: This Marbury-Fitzgerald Airphoto, on which the artist has indicated the route of the high-level bridge over the Buffalo River, gives a graphic idea of how Fuhrmann Blvd. would feed into Perry Blvd. and thence into the Thruway.”
