Front Lines of Fracking: Jackson Township, Pa.

Buy News photos |

Replanted Buffalo native Lou Hancherick of Jackson Township, Butler County Pa., surveys the staining that occurred in an apartment rental unit that he has not been able to lease since word spread about possible water contamination woes that the surrounding community claims was caused by fracking. Recently, a woman inquired about the unit, but he turned her away when he discovered she was pregnant. Due to subzero weather, he let the sink run at a trickle to protect the plumbing and came to discover the smell and staining in the sink. (Robert Kirkham/Buffalo News)
