Niagara Falls Boom Days

Buy News photos |

Niagara Falls Boom Days was celebrated at the LaSalle Yacht Club, Saturday, April 26, 2014. It's a celebration of spring and the removal of the ice boom. This is the first year in its 10 year history that the ice boom hasn't been removed by the time of the event put on by LaSalle PRIDE. The event kicked off as folks canoed and kayaked down the Little Niagara River from Griffin Park to the yacht club. Characters in period dress were in the lead canoe. In front Ken Sherman played the part of French explorer Robert Cavalier, Sieur De La Salle and behind him Walter Kendzia played the part of Father Hennepin. (Sharon Cantillon/Buffalo News)
