Memphis Belle over Buffalo

A World War II B-17 bomber named after the original "Memphis Belle" celebrated the 70th anniversary of the plane's historic last mission. Its stop in Buffalo is part of the Liberty Foundation's 2013 Salute to Veterans Tour. The crew gave a ride to the media from Prior Aviation in Cheektowaga, Monday, July 29, 2013, and will offer rides to the public on Saturday and Sunday. Free tours of the plane will be offered as well . This B-17 never saw action. It was made to look like the original Memphis Belle for the movie by the same name. It is commonly called the "movie Memphis Belle." The original bomber is being restored in Dayton, Ohio. (Sharon Cantillon/Buffalo News)
